Victor over-dedicates himself to perfecting his “Dissertation” and “Contextual Study” modules by using coffee, ProPlus and prescription drugs to stay awake all night on the computer. Victor invents the name “Telepress” while researching his essay “Internet or Not?”, by combining the concepts and words Teleprescence and Printing Press. Victor applies to the Royal College of Art’s Computer Related Design masters course after getting to the final of the RSA student competition when his relationship with Nathan errupts. Nathan decides to apply to the RCA aswell. The whole Graphic Information Design course students also begin to fall out so Victor writes a speech overnight and delivers it to the whole year in his capacity as Student Rep.

Feeling the relationship slipping, anxiety motivates Tanya and Victor to buy a holiday in Turkey on impulse, as a reward for the end of the year for graduating. They then have a massive fall out over the Gideon situation and Tanya’s mum is forced to travel across to Harrow to make peace. Victor begins to lose his mind.
The goal of this chapter is to start at the top of a downward spiral and finish just before Victor hits the bottom. The forces of antagonism on Victor are huge in this chapter. Some of which are direct reactions based on the choices he made earlier, others are outside of his control but are adding to the pressure and therefore the deterioration of his state of mind and belief systems. This chapter serves to set up the first major turning point of this story.

This chapter is divided into nine parts:
1) Blame culture and alienation after Tanya’s Eptopic pregnancy.
2) Planning towards the final year by offsetting Carl and Mauli with Lewis.
3) A summer trapped in Essex and working far too hard.
4) Witnessing his grandmother on her death bed and coping with the grief of her passing.
5) Moving in with Nathan and Lewis then making the biggest purchase of his life - an Apple Quadra 840 AV.
6) The deterioration of Victor and Nathan’s relationship.
7) A combined and uneccesary dissertation and contextual study, powered by ProPlus and mixed with half an ounce of cannabis a week.
8) The big speech to rescue the the final show.
9) Mental deterioration, lack of a grip on reality, slipping out of control and Tanya’s supposed affair with Gideon.
